Chesapeake Beach Attractions:
Chesapeake Beach was founded by the Washington and Chesapeake Bay Railway Company in 1894 as a resort destination for visitors from the Washington D.C. area. The town thrived as a destination resort during the early 1900's. The Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum , located in a train station remaining from that time, tells the story of the Chesapeake Bay Railway Company and Amusement Park through a collection of historical photographs and artifacts. The railway museum is open daily May through September from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and weekends in April and October from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Admission is free.
Today, you can still enjoy the beach at Bay Front Park. The park has a public beach and is open during daylight hours. The Breezy Point Beach and Campground, located adjacent to the Breezy Point Marina, is operated by the Calvert County Dept. of Parks and Recreation and offers swimming and camping at 80 waterfront or water view campsites.
In 1995, a water park was added to the attractions at Chesapeake Beach. With eight water slides, a children's activity pool, and a water volleyball area, the park has something for everyone.
